Weekly Wonders - World Book Day Special!

This week, the big focus for all of our classes was World Book Day - we were amazed by all of the creative costumes, bunting and wooden spoons we saw in school! We also thoroughly enjoyed mixing year groups to read stories to each other.

Children in Year 5 designed a piece of bunting each for their favourite book. Take a look at the amazing artwork!
 
Talking of art, they have also been exploring pictures made by Katsushika Hokusai, a Japanese artist from 200 years ago...
Year 6 have completed their creative book reports and also developed 3D contour maps. Did you know that the world's tallest mountain technically is not Mount Everest? Year 6 will explain where it is...
Further down the age groups, children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have all been getting out into the Forest School...
 
Reception pupils have been making troll faces...
...Year 1 have been potato planting and creating designs for their Enchanted Forest display...
...and Year 2 have been making their own land art, inspired by British sculptor, Andy Goldsworthy...
Year 3 have been designing their own Stone Age jewellery with a modern twist. They have even started to create the beads...
Finally, Year 4 were getting musical on Friday afternoon, playing ukuleles and learning how to play ABBA tunes on glockenspiels.
