Isaac Newton School achieve School Games Platinum Award for 3rd time!

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2023/24 academic year. This is the third time we have been awarded the highest level in the School Games pathway.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and Isaac Newton are delighted to have been recognised for their success.

Sporting achievements this year include: Hockey Winners; Town Sports Winners; Indoor Athletics 3rd place; Swimming Gala 3rd place. The school have entered every competition availabl,e including girls football, mixed cricket, indoor athletics, tag rugby festival and competition, netball, badminton, panathlon, new age kurling, tennis, cricket, cross country, Santa fun run and rounders.

In addition, every child has accessed a 6-week extra-curricular club during the academic year and a number of children have enjoyed the opportunity to partake in bikeability and top up swimming.

All of the Year 6 children have represented the school at an event this year.

As part of the application, the school were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and the whole school community is delighted that the hard work of everyone has been rewarded this year.

Ellie Atter, PE and Sports Lead, commented:

"Achieving the Platinum Award is a fantastic reward for the whole school community. We aim to offer as many opportunities as possible for our children to be physically active, so to have this acknowledged by the Youth Sport Trust is incredible. This would not be possible without the hard work of the dedicated PE team in school and most importantly the children, who show determination and commitment in everything they do! We would also like to thank Inspire+ and Positive Futures for their support in offering our children opportunities to be physically active. This is a very proud moment for our school!"
